Home Improvements and Energy Efficient Upgrades deserve this

If you have had Healthy Habitat.org perform an inspections, assessment, or any type of testing in the last 6 months (and you have made improvements on your property based on the report that we’ve created for you) then it’s time to request your rebate, or incentive, back for the service(s) that we’ve provided to you.

After Healthy Habitat.org has provided any type of work on your property you should have received our Rebate & Incentives form from us, as seen on the left, which states that if you hire any of our Prescreened and Approved Contractors to improve your home/building (based on our report’s recommended actions to take ) then you are entitled to a rebated or incentive for the amount of money that you spent having us perform that inspection/assessment/testing on you property, (see full details on the report provided to you at time of service).

Our goal as a nonprofit organization is not only to test for health hazards and ways to improve energy efficiency, but also to help you in making the necessary changes by connecting you with great contractors while keeping the costs down.  For this very reason we have created the Healthy Habitat.org Rebate and Incentive program.

For program details please click on the Rebate and Incentive document on the left, or call our office as we would be happy to speak with you over the phone about how you can qualify to earn the cost of our services for free using our Rebate & Incentive program.

FAQ

The dollar amount of your Rebate, or Incentive, will be for the same amount that you spent with Healthy Habitat.org on having the testing/inspection/assessment completed (less any laboratory and/or sample cost, see details within the report that was provided to you for the service you had performed).

See above image of Rebates & Incentives available for actual rebate & incentive dollar amounts.  Please note that for reduced priced services (such as promotional rates, discounts, or no cost services) the Rebate or Incentive will not exceed the rate paid for the service that Healthy Habitat.org performed.

After we have received you rebate/incentive request, will all needed paperwork and requested information, please allow between 30 to 60 days for your rebate/incentive to be returned to you as we only process these once a month.  Also, the rebate/incentive will be returned to in a form of a check directly from our company.

The rebate & incentive program is on available to those property owners who have hired a Prescreened and Approved Healthy Habitat.org Contractor.

Our rebates/incentives will indeed work with some the already established rebates and incentives that Energy Trust of Oregon has currently.  However, Energy Trust focuses exclusively on energy reduction (not on hazardous materials test as we do as well).

Also, the incentives provide from Energy Trust are generally limited to a flat fee for the improved items that you have had installed such as a hot water tank or solar panels, where the Healthy Habitat.org Rebate is available for improvements made for Labor and/or Materials.  For example you might have had Radon mitigated in you home from one of our prescreened approved contractors, (after Healthy Habitat.org tests for Radon) in which case this improvement will provide you a rebate (or incentive) from us but it would not provide you with an incentive from Energy Trust of Oregon.  Both programs have much to offer, but they are comparably different and many times they can be used in conjunction with one another.

Rebates and Incentives are limited to only one rebate per inspection/assessment performed by Healthy Habitat.org and rebate/incentive amounts provided on a property can not exceed the total amount of cost for any service(s) the property owner has hired Healthy Habitat.org to perform.

For example, if your had a Radon test completed by us and hired a Radon abatement professional to lower/remove the Radon count then yes you can receive a rebate, or incentive, for that.  Also, if you had a Home Energy Score performed by Healthy Habitat.org and hired a HVAC contractor to install a newer updated furnace, then yes you can receive a rebate, or incentive, for that as well… a total of two rebates will apply in this scenario due to the fact that the property owner has had two Healthy Habitat inspection completed.

However if we provided an Energy Score Assessment, and the property owner hired an HVAC contractor, and an Insulation contractor to make upgrades on the house then only one rebate/incentie would be provided to the property owner due to the fact that only one service (in this case on Energy Score) was provided by Healthy Habitat.org for this client.

A rebate is much like a refund check written to the person/property owner who originally hired Healthy Habitat.org to perform a service on the property, and then hired one of Healthy Habitat.org’s prescreened contractors to perform the recommended work stated on the Healthy Habitat.org report.  A rebate is a form of returned payment from us to the person (organization) that hired one of our prescreened contractors.

An Incentive paid out is when a service was performed by Healthy Habitat.org on a property, but the originally payee for that service did not have recommended work performed that was listed on the report page left behind with the payee.  Later, a new property owner has taken possession of the home/building and has hired a Healthy Habitat.org prescreened contractor to perform the recommended work that was listed on the report page originally provided to the payee.  Because the new party of ownership did not pay Healthy Habitat.org for the services they performed the new new party of ownership can not receive a rebate, however they can receive an incentive if the prior owner(s) did not already receive a rebate previously for the services performed by Healthy Habitat.org.

Examples:

  1. Radon testing was performed by Healthy Habitat.org and the owner hired one of our prescreened contractors to mitigate the Radon.  The owner is now entitled to a rebate.
  2. Radon testing performed by us, but the owner did not have any work performed.  The house was sold to a NEW owner, who had one of our prescreened contractors mitigate.  This new owner is entitled to an Incentive paid to them for the cost of the Radon testing that was originally paid to Healthy Habitat.org from the first owner of that property.

The dollar amount of your Rebate, or Incentive, will be for the same amount that you spent with Healthy Habitat.org on having the testing/inspection/assessment completed (less any laboratory and/or sample cost, see details within the report that was provided to you for the service you had performed).

Payments:  See above image of Rebates & Incentives available for actual rebate & incentive dollar amounts.  Please note that for reduced priced services (such as promotional rates, discounts, or no cost services) the Rebate or Incentive will not exceed the rate paid for the service that Healthy Habitat.org performed. All requests for Rebates and Incentive will be verified with the Contractor that performed any service work on a property in which you are applying for the Rebate or Incentive.  Should we not be able to verify with the Contractor, through our written communication and verification process with that Contractor, that services were indeed performed on the property then the Customer/Property Owner/Representative/or other may not receive from Health Habitat.org a Rebate or Incentive.
